LETTER FROM PETER ROSENTHAL

It’s hard to believe Summer has finally arrived and we are now four months into this new and unusual way of life. Most of us have now settled into our remote working routines and are finding ways to enjoy the slower pace outside of work with our families and loved ones, especially now that the warmer weather is here.

This has been a difficult few months for everyone. The pandemic wreaked havoc on the economy, significantly impacting the retail sector and disrupting many of our clients’ businesses. While we’re not quite back at last year’s levels, business has bounced back in May and June and we are in a strong position heading into the second half of 2020. It will be a slow recovery for sure, but I am cautiously optimistic about the current business climate and encouraged by what lies ahead with regard to new business opportunities.

Our clients are incredibly resilient and have found ways to survive in this challenging environment. A number of them have pivoted their businesses to create different product mixes that better meet the needs of current consumer demands. Over the past few months, so many of our colleagues have worked tirelessly to find creative ways to continue serving our clients and pursuing new business opportunities. Your collective efforts and perseverance have helped Rosenthal adapt to this new normal, right alongside our clients.

We are discussing and working on our return to office plans, whenever it is safe to do so. Our plan also involves adapting our space to provide the safest possible working environment, as well as thinking about important factors like commuting, events and business travel. Please know that all of these plans are driven by our most fundamental goal – to protect the health and safety of all of you and your families.

Thank you all for your continued efforts on behalf of our clients, our firm and our family.

--Peter

THOUGHTS FROM HOME

#TEAMROSENTHAL

What’s the craziest thing you’ve bought during this stay-at-home period?

Resistance bands for working out. So far, I’m still resisting the workouts.
— Carolyn Camacho
For Mother’s Day I received a subscription to Dear Holmes. I receive a weekly letter from Dr. Watson to Sherlock Holmes with clues for a case. At the end of the month, I send in my ideas of the who/what/how on the case. It’s been so much fun! I’m your gal if you need to decipher a code!
— Shelly Head
A house!
— Arianna Fragiacomo
You mean besides face masks!?
— Sydnee Breuer
Nothing, which is crazy since I love to shop!
— Deane Davis
I installed a zip-line for my kids. News spread quickly, so now I run a quasi-kids park in my backyard.
— Brian Resutek
I had a 300-lb. treadmill delivered that I had to get down a flight of steps and assemble myself – that was fun!
— Eric Bader
A do-it-yourself haircut kit and allowing my husband to use it on my hair. There were definitely tears!
— Ying Yang
Crayons and coloring books.
— Heather Fidura
A Murder Hornet Trap.
— Ken Kleiner
Some new cedar blocks to hang with my newly dry cleaned suits that I hope to be able to retire for a very long time – hint, hint.
— Rob Miller
Cartoon.png

What’s a new hobby or interest you’ve taken up during the past few months?

Dyeing my hair. My daughter dyed the top of my head blond, then two weeks later, she dyed me blue.
— Franz Gritsch
We thought it would be a great time to try and RV! You travel with your own kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Drive it where you want, when you want. It sounded like a great idea and it was! We traveled to the Poconos to visit Lake Wallenpaupack. Looking forward to ‘hitting the road’ again later in the summer!
— Mark Gorman
Washing my car and the neighbors’ cars. I have 3 regular customers on my block where I hand wash their cars once every 2 weeks at $50 a pop.
— Ken Kleiner
Bike riding and Zoom Happy Hour.
— Tony Verrilli
At lunch I crank up the Echo dot and Zumba all over the house. No picture of that - hah!
— Kimberlee McClanahan

Where is the first place you’ll go once things begin to reopen more?

Ready to go to a Dodger game.
— Sydnee Breuer
A soccer game at Mercedes Benz would be awesome!
— Shelly Head
Date night planned for our favorite tapas bar out here on the island.
— Carolyn Camacho
Coach my kids’ soccer game.
— Brian Resutek
Workout classes.
— Heather Fidura
To the mall to buy summer clothes.
— Jesus Brito
Visit family, especially my aunt who is 87 years young!
— Deane Davis
A bar or restaurant to listen to some live music.
— Franz Gritsch
I look forward to going out with family and friends to enjoy a nice meal with someone else doing the cooking and cleaning!
— Julie Hughes
The Metropolitan Museum.
— Daisy Dai
1370 Broadway 2nd Floor.
— Ken Kleiner
Mr. Broadway.
